HoustonTexans.com wins prestigious honors

The Houston Texans’ official website, HoustonTexans.com, has been recognized for the second consecutive year as a winner in the W3 Awards competition.

After the site was honored in 2008 as a Silver Award winner in three separate categories (“Sports” website, “Best Video or Motion Graphics” and “Best Visual Appeal”), the site received two Gold Awards in 2009 for “Best Home Page” and “Celebrity/Fan” website. Additionally, HoustonTexans.com won Silver Awards for “Broadcasting” and “Branding.”

The “Celebrity/Fan” website category honors websites that commemorate, endorse or honor athletes, celebrities, artists or musicians. The “Broadcasting” award honors websites that are dedicated to the distribution of audio and/or video to an intended audience, and the “Branding” award honors websites that work to develop the overall scope or image of a particular product or service.

The W3 Awards competition is a major international web competition sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA). Judges of this competition include executives from organizations such as BRANDWEEK, HBO, MTV, Yahoo!, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Alloy and many others.

Nearly 3,000 companies worldwide submitted entries to this year’s W3 Awards competition, but fewer than 10% of all entries received Gold Awards.

The Texans launched the redesigned HoustonTexans.com on July 8, 2009. Designed by AmericanEagle.com, the new site features a vastly improved search engine, easier site navigation, an enhanced video player and much more.
