Hispanic Outreach

The Houston Texans have established a solid Hispanic outreach platform by creating many events and partnerships to connect with the Hispanic community, including Hispanic Heritage Day, Hispanic Media Day, a Hispanic fan club, Toros Bravos presented by Verizon, and a partnership with the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Toros Bravos
Toros Bravos presented by Verizon is the official Houston Texans fan club created with Hispanic fans in mind! Membership is free and gives you access to exclusive events, on-field opportunities, monthly newsletters, fun contests, volunteer opportunities, and more, all alongside thousands of fellow Toros Bravos members! You’ll also have the opportunity to meet Texans players, Ambassadors, Cheerleaders, and TORO, so sign up today! Click here for more info.

Hispanic Heritage Month
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in September, the Texans hosted the annual Hispanic Heritage Day game aimed at highlighting Houston’s diverse Hispanic culture. Mario Lopez, TV star and brother-in-law of former Texans player Kailee Wong, led the team out of the tunnel as the Homefield Advantage Captain. Houston Grand Opera singer Cecilia Duarte performed the national anthem, and the official Hispanic Fan Club of the Houston Texans, Toros Bravos presented by Verizon, held the Texas flag.

NFL Hispanic Leadership Award
During halftime of the Hispanic Heritage Day game, the Texans honor one individual with the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award. This award recognizes the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market. Each award recipient receives a $2,000 donation for the non-profit organization of their choice. Past local winners have included Rick Noriega, President and CEO of AVANCE, Inc., Alex López Negrete, President and CEO of Lopez Negrete Communications, Inc., Michael Cordúa, Cordúa Restaurants, and Armando Perez, Senior VP for the Houston Division of H-E-B.
