Texans cierran pretemporada con entusiasmo

El saldo que dejó la pretemporada para los Houston Texas es sumamente positivo. Luego de haber ganado tres de los cuatro partidos que disputaron, los Toros comprobaron que tienen un equipo con la suficiente calidad para llegar mucho más lejos que la temporada pasada.

El saldo que dejó la pretemporada para los Houston Texas es sumamente positivo. Luego de haber ganado tres de los cuatro partidos que disputaron, los Toros comprobaron que tienen un equipo con la suficiente calidad para llegar mucho más lejos que la temporada pasada.

Los veteranos demostraron que han madurado a un grado de liderazgo mientras que los jóvenes se comportaron a la altura cuando fueron exigidos. Quizás lo mejor que dejó la pretemporada fue la revelación de que este equipo tiene profundidad. En las posiciones de ala cerrada, quarterback, receptores y corredores es evidente que los Texans ya no dependerán de solamente unos cuantos jugadores. En esta temporada se nota que serán varios los que están listos para marcar la diferencia.

En la victoria contra los Cowboys de Dallas, que cerró la pretemporada, fue patente la calidad de los jugadores suplentes con los que contará el entrenador en jefe Gary Kubiak.

La ofensiva de los Texans fue la mejor de la pretemporada en toda la NFL y eso lo lograron con una mano atada en la espalda, lo que indica que una vez más el ataque ofensivo de Kubiak va a dar buenos resultados. Pero eso sí, su efectividad en la zona roja tendrá que mejorar mucho. De nada va a servir acumular grandes cantidades de yardas si a la hora de la verdad no hay contundencia.

La defensa tuvo sus momentos altos durante los partidos amistosos pero también sus deficiencias. Es evidente que el regreso de Brian Cushing va a ser determinante y sería injusto juzgar a estas alturas el rendimiento de la defensa porque no hemos podido verla con todo su poderío.

El coordinador defensivo Wade Phillips no desató a sus ‘bestias’ durante la pretemporada y será este lunes 9 de septiembre en el partido de apertura contra los Chargers de San Diego cuando veremos a los defensivos en todo su esplendor.

Los Texans tendrán una semana más para afinar detallitos y aunque nada se gana en pretemporada los resultados que se consiguieron y lo mostrado por los jugadores es suficiente como para pensar en cosas grandes de cara a esta temporada que ya está a la vuelta de la esquina.
