FOR PARENTS
Hello Moms, Dads, and Legal Guardians!
Welcome to the TORO’s Kids Club website, the official Houston Texans website for kids (TOROsKidsClub.com).
The privacy of all online users is important to us, but the privacy of children is especially important to us. We are committed to safeguarding children's personal information collected online, and to helping parents and their children exercise control over personal information while exploring the Internet.
This privacy policy explains our information collection and use practices for users of our children’s website, including children under the age of thirteen.
This privacy policy applies to information submitted by children using TOROsKidsClub.com and information submitted by parents about their children for participation in the TORO’s Kids Club.
When this privacy policy uses the term “personally identifiable information” or “personal information,” we mean information that identifies a particular individual, such as a child’s full name, street address or email address. When other information, such as a favorite team or player, is associated with personal information, it also becomes personally identifiable information for the purposes of this privacy policy.
Please take the time to review this policy so that you know exactly how we collect and use your child’s information, and how you can review or request that we delete your child's information. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us at the following e-mail address: childrensprivacypolicy@houstontexans.com. You can also review the privacy policy that applies to our general interest website here.
The TORO’s Kids Club Website
At TOROsKidsClub.com, boys and girls can play games, enter contests, vote in surveys, signup for newsletters, submit questions about the team, learn more about the Houston Texans and all the positions in football and how to play them and register for Texans youth programs. It's all part of our effort to help kids learn more about and understand the greatest sport around.
Collection of Personally Identifiable Information
In compliance with The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not ask for any personal information beyond what is reasonably necessary for your child to participate in TOROsKidsClub.com activities. When information is not required to administer an activity, we clearly mark that information as optional.
Your child is required to register with TOROsKidsClub.com if he or she would like to become a member of the TORO’s Kids Club; however, we require that you as the parent or legal guardian register your child, instead of your child registering on his or her own. The only information we require you to disclose about your child during our registration process is your child’s first name, child’s birth date, gender, and zip code. This information is used only for internal purposes to administer the activities and our website. We will use your name and credit card information that you use to pay for the TORO’s Kids Club membership to confirm your identity as the parent or legal guardian. If you allow us to collect personal information about your child, we may use that information to fulfill TORO’s Kids Club activities and we may also link certain information collected through other technology, such as the IP Address of the computer used to access our website (see “Other Privacy Information” below).
In order to allow your child to participate in certain activities, we may periodically request limited, personally identifiable information from your child that will be used in relation to promotions, contests, newsletters or other similar activities. If the activity involves only a one-time contact with your child, we will request that the child provide his or her first name and email address. Your child’s information will be deleted shortly after we fulfill his or her request. If the activity involves more than one contact with your child, we will also request that your child provide your email address. We will use your email address to send you an email letting you know about your child's contact, the information they have provided, and give you the opportunity to decline your child's participation in the activity. If you do not respond to our email within forty-eight hours, we will assume that you have given your permission for your child to participate in the activity. If the activity involves a prize, we will ask your child to provide your email address or telephone number. If your child is chosen as the contest winner, we will contact you to verify the child’s eligibility and your consent to his or her participation. After the prize is awarded, all information collected from non-winning participants will be deleted.
If you choose to allow your child to become a member of the TORO’s Kids Club and thereby provide us with his or her personally identifiable information, such as last name, email, and mailing address, we will use that information to administer the TORO’s Kids Club activities, such as the newsletter, contests and birthday greetings.
Other Information We May Collect
We may periodically offer activities where kids can send messages to their friends, such as “tell a friend” notices about contests or online greetings. To send these messages, we will ask your child for their first name and email address and the email address of their friend. Information collected for this purpose will be used to send the requested message and then all information collected for this purpose will be deleted.
We also offer your kids the ability to sign up for a variety of Houston Texans periodic newsletters and updates. This will allow your kids to receive information about new features, promotions and activities on TOROsKidsClub.com.
In addition, parents or guardians can also sign up for newsletters and updates for themselves, such as email newsletters and updates about TOROsKidsClub.com, football related events and special offers from our marketing partners.
Signing up for the newsletters and updates is voluntary. And you or your kids can stop receiving them at any time. Every email we send includes information on unsubscribing from our mailing list. If you or your kids no longer wish to receive an email message, click on the link included in the email or send an email to kidsclub@houstontexans.com.
Parental Approval, Consent and Review
Parents at any time can send an email to kidsclub@houstontexans.com to review the information collected about your child, request that it be deleted, or request that your children be removed from mailing lists.
Security
The TORO’s Kids Club website incorporates reasonable safeguards to protect the security, integrity, completeness, accuracy and privacy of the personal information that we may collect and we have put into place reasonable precautions to protect such information from loss, misuse and alteration. Your personally identifiable information is transferred to our computers utilizing encryption software. Only those employees who need access to your information in order to do their jobs are allowed access. Our security policies are reviewed periodically and revised as required.
Other Privacy Information
We will only use personally identifiable information collected on TOROsKidsClub.com for the purpose for which it is collected.
We do not share this personally identifiable information with third parties except on a confidential and secure basis to those parties that help us administer our website or related activities. The information provided to TOROsKidsClub.com will not be rented or sold to any third party.
