Texans' timing could be tricky when drafting RBs – J. McClain
The Texans' biggest needs going into the NFL draft are running back, cornerback and defensive tackle. Coach Gary Kubiak calls running back a young player's position because of all the punishment they absorb early in their careers as runners, receivers and blockers.

Texans want to star in HBO series Hard Knocks – J. McClain
Owner Bob McNair is lobbying NFL Films for the Texans to appear on the HBO summer series Hard Knocks. Hard Knocks follows a team during training camp and usually features the team on six weekly episodes that run numerous times on HBO's multiple channels.

Texans want to be on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’; do the Jets want it too? – S. Leahy
The Houston Texans want to be on Hard Knocks. And the New York Jets might want in on the HBO party too. Texans owner Bob McNair told the Houston Chronicle that he has informed NFL Films that he is interested in having his team profiled on the HBO documentary during training camp.

'Hard Knocks' would pressurize Texans – P. Kuharsky
John McClain reports the Texans are lobbying to be the team HBO tracks in the preseason for "Hard Knocks." It’s a surprising revelation as the Texans turned down a foray in the past and are a low-key club that seems unlikely to want to risk the possible repercussions of exposing a month of their lives.

Sellouts at New Stadium Are Next Battle for Jets and Giants – R. Sandomir
Now that a coin flip has determined that the Giants, not the Jets, will play the first regular-season game at the teams’ new $1.6 billion stadium at the Meadowlands, the next question is whether each team will sell out.

Proposed OT change: Move the kickoff up, leave the rest alone – C. Judge
When NFL owners meet in Florida next week, one of the hot topics will be a proposal to change the way overtimes are played -- an idea that could be tried on an experimental basis as early as the 2010 playoffs.

Tebow will prove worth the risk – J. Gruden
When I met with Tim Tebow recently in Tampa, Fla., I prepared three tapes. We watched some left-handed quarterbacks -- Boomer Esiason, Steve Young, Michael Vick, Chris Simms, Mark Brunell -- and we talked about some of the changes in Tim's throwing motion that he had been working on.

As one NFL executive told me, “Only A.J. (Smith) could get a third-round pick for a quarterback nobody really knows whether he can play or not.”

Warner tops list of best undrafted players of all time – G. Brandt
It's always a benefit when a team's first-round draft pick meets those lofty expectations. And it's a real bonus when mid- to low-round selections exceed their expectations. This, of course, has been at the heart of NFL.com's voting platform to determine the best draft picks in NFL history.

2010 NFL Mock Draft 4.0 – D. Banks
A personnel man I know texted me the other day to tell me I had the "right 32 guys" in my 3.0 mock draft, the one I did almost two weeks ago coming out of the NFL Scouting Combine. He didn't say whether I had any of those right guys going to the right team, but at this point, with the first round still more than five weeks away, I'll take it and try not to over think things as we reflect the results of free agency on everyone's draft board.

Lack of a salary cap leaves wide range of spending in NFL clubs – J. Bell
It's the yin and yang of an NFL system without a salary cap. While there's no ceiling on how much teams can spend on players, there's also no floor dictating the minimum that must be spent.

Ravens’ acquisitions top free-agency moves – J. Cole
While the offseason movement of free agency, trades and the NFL draft is like some long-running Christmas celebration for fans that can’t wait to see which new players will be on their team, the reality is much more sobering.

Titans linemen break bank with coach's help – J. Wyatt
If you've ever stopped by Titans training camp, you've undoubtedly heard Jim Washburn, even if you didn't see him. He's the coach in the faded baseball cap, yelling at the top of his lungs at the defensive linemen. They're sweating and at the point of exhaustion, but he keeps on riding them.
