Houston Texans News

USA Today
'Big-time' goals in Houston all wrapped around Schaub's arm – M. Manfull Oritz
Andre Johnson leaned back in his locker and laughed. The memory of the Houston Texans' inability to stay on the field in past seasons made the All-Pro receiver chuckle. Johnson, who has been with the Texans since 2003, didn't find anything funny about his offense's futility. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/texans/2009-11-19-matt-schaub-cover_N.htm

Houston Chronicle
‘Destroy all playoff hopes’ – J. McClain
If the Texans listen to Tennessee outside linebacker Keith Bulluck, they can forget about beating the Titans on Monday night at Reliant Stadium. And while they’re at it, the Texans can forget about making the playoffs for the first time.

Houston Chronicle
Texans-Titans matures into serious rivalry – J. McClain
It's about time the AFC South rivalry between the Texans and Titans heated up. Until now, the Titans didn't respect the Texans enough to trash talk them. Now the Titans don't like the Texans. And the Texans don't like the Titans. Both claim the other takes cheap shots.

Houston Chronicle
Texans to catch Titans at worst possible time – D. Barron
They've seen flash, as in running back Chris Johnson, and crass, as personified by owner K.S. “Bud” Adams' wandering digits. Most surprisingly, they've had a blast from the past in the unexpected return to form of quarterback Vince Young.

Houston Chronicle
Casey appears to be recovered – D. Robertson
Rookie tight end James Casey, who had arthroscopic knee surgery after the Buffalo game, appears to be recovered. He participated fully in Thursday's practice. “He didn't miss anything today,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “There have been no setbacks. He's done a heck of a job to get back that fast.”

Houston Chronicle
Injured Texans WR Jones uncertain for Titans game – D. Robertson
The Texans attempted to work Jacoby Jones back into his regular practice regimen Thursday, but they did so with very limited success. The return-man/wide receiver worked a bit during the special teams period, then played the role of spectator for the rest of the afternoon.

ESPN AFC South Blog
Perhaps Schaub's most impressive number – P. Kuharsky
Since joining the Texans in 2007, Matt Schaub is second in the NFL in yard per attempt at 7.98. His YPA with the Texans would tie him with Steve Young for fifth-highest in league history, and his 66.6 completion percentage would be the highest among the top 10 in the category.

Tennessee Titans News

The Tennessean
Titans ready to pay back Texans – J. Wyatt
The Titans have a score to settle against the Texans, and are counting the days until Monday night's matchup in Houston. The Texans beat the Titans, 34-31, in Week 2 and own a two-game winning streak in the AFC South series.

The Tennessean
Vince Young ready to go home – J. Wyatt
Houston native Vince Young returns to his hometown on Monday night for the Titans-Texans game at Reliant Stadium. It's also the scene of the second-most memorable play of his football career: In December 2006, the then-rookie's 39-yard touchdown run in overtime gave the Titans a 26-20 win.

The Tennessean
Nick Harper will rejoin Titans as starter – G. Estwick
When Titans cornerback Nick Harper returns from his broken forearm — either Monday night against the Texans or next week against the Cardinals — he will regain his place in the starting lineup.

The National Post
Bird is the word – B. Arthur
These are strange times in Tennessee. To be fair, times are often strange in Tennessee. I mean, Graceland, the Memphis Grizzlies, Lane Kiffin coaching the University of Tennessee -- lots of weirdness down there. In Kiffin's case, after two of his players were nabbed for robbing a gas station recently, he said "we made it 11 months and 11 days" between incidents, except that a freshman defensive back had been nabbed for shoplifting five days earlier. It was as if Kiffin was still coaching the Raiders.

Bleacher Report
Young returns to hometown to face Texans– K. Rieken
In his last start at Reliant Stadium, Vince Young left the field blowing kisses to cheering fans after running for the winning score in overtime. It was a triumphant return to the city where he grew up against the team that passed on drafting him.

ESPN.com
Bulluck stokes Texans-Titans rivalry – AP
The fans in Houston have always hated the Titans as the team that left town without looking back. Now Tennessee linebacker Keith Bulluck may have stirred up things between the players.

NFL News

USA Today
Charging back in AFC West 'nothing new' for Rivers, Bolts – J. Bell
What a difference a month makes. When the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos were last on the field together a month ago at Qualcomm Stadium, it appeared the AFC West race was all but settled.

Yahoo! Sports
Gruden finds safe haven in the booth – M. Silver
Jon Gruden may have lost his desire to prowl the sidelines with a gnarly scowl – at least for the time being – but contrary to popular perception, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders coach turned Monday Night Football analyst hasn’t surrendered his sarcastic edge.

Sports Illustrated.com
Thrice As Nice – AP
With Ronnie Brown lost for the season, the Miami Dolphins turned to their aging running back. Ricky Williams showed he's still got it. The 32-year-old Williams rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Dolphins beat the Carolina Panthers 24-17 on Thursday night for their fourth win in six games to get into the AFC playoff picture.

Hungry Jones-Drew rushing to elite stature – P. Prisco
We all know the scenario. You're dozing off late at night on the couch, the television on in the background. You're fighting sleep, and your significant other nudges you, jarring your senses: "Get up and go to bed." That's not what Maurice Jones-Drew hears when he's nudged.

Vikings extend Childress deal – J. Clayton
The Minnesota Vikings signed Brad Childress to a contract extension that will keep the coach with the team through the 2013 season, a source told ESPN.com Thursday. Financial terms weren't immediately available but the deal is believed to be between $4 million and $5 million a year, the source said.
