The Texans announced today that they have signed fourth-round draft pick tight end Anthony Hill (6-6, 269). Hill is the third Texans draft choice to sign, joining cornerback Brice McCain and safety Troy Nolan.

Hill was the 122nd selection in the 2009 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State. Known more as a blocking tight end, Hill has impressed coaches with his hands.

"He's caught the ball really well," coach Gary Kubiak said. "I think that's kind of been a surprise for us. He knows what he is doing route wise. He'll get better just through repetitions and understanding exactly the pro game and that type of thing. I think that's been a bonus. We knew we were getting a physical player, but I think it's been a bonus that he can run routes pretty good."

A Houston native, Hill finished his career with 79 receptions for 852 yards and five touchdowns in 37 games. He completed his career with a 10.8 yards-per-catch average. He missed the 2007 season due to knee injury.

Hill caught 19 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns last season. He ended the season strong, tallying 14 of his 16 receptions in the last six games and scoring three touchdowns. He was one of two team captains elected by his peers prior to the season and earned the team's Ken McNeil Iron Wolf Award for the greatest comeback from injury.
