Texans announce training camp open practice dates

Posted Jul 28, 2011

Houston Texans Training Camp presented by XFINITY begins on Sunday, July 31, with the team hitting the field at the Methodist Training Center on Monday, Aug. 1.

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans Training Camp presented by XFINITY begins on Sunday, July 31, with the team hitting the field at the Methodist Training Center for the first time on Monday, Aug. 1.

Six practice sessions will be open to the public beginning on Saturday, August 6.  All of the open practices will begin at 8:00 a.m. CDT and gates will open to fans at 7:00 a.m.

Free tickets can be printed from the Texans official website, www.HoustonTexans.com.  Tickets are limited to 10 per person per practice.  The direct link to the training camp ticket page is http://www.houstontexans.com/fan-zone/camp-practices.html.

The Texans will unveil the 2011 Houston Texans Cheerleaders Swimsuit Calendar at the first open practice on Saturday, August 6.  Each Cheerleader featured in the calendar will be on hand to autograph copies of the calendar.

The Houston Texans and XFINITY have partnered up to offer fans the opportunity to bid on autographed training camp-worn jerseys.  All proceeds raised through the auction will benefit The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.  The auction will go live on August 6th at HoustonTexans.com and will run through the end of the preseason.

For the first time, the Texans are creating themes for each open practice, including Battle Red Day, Liberty White Out, Youth Day, Salute to the Military, Deep Steel Friday and Fan Appreciation Day.  The Texans have also rearranged the bleachers along the sideline in order to give fans an opportunity to sit closer to both end zone areas during the practices.

Fans will be able to watch practice sessions as well as participate in the Fan Zone behind the bleachers and kids will have the opportunity to take part in TORO’s Kids Club presented by Kroger Kids Zone featuring various Texans interactive games. Texans Cheerleaders, Texans Ambassadors and TORO will be available during practice sessions for autographs.

Free parking is available north of the Methodist Training Center off of McNee Street in the Purple Lot.
