A Johnson le motiva la intensidad de O’ Brien

Aparte del calor agobiante y el intenso ambiente que los jugadores de los Houston Texans están viviendo en estos primeros días del campamento de pretemporada en las canchas del Methodist Training Center, los Toros también han tenido que lidiar con nuevos esquemas de juego, que ya comienzan a exigirlos al máximo.

Aparte del calor agobiante y el intenso ambiente que los jugadores de los Houston Texans están viviendo en estos primeros días del campamento de pretemporada en las canchas del Methodist Training Center, los Toros también han tenido que lidiar con nuevos esquemas de juego, que ya comienzan a exigirlos al máximo.

Los cambios están siendo complicados incluyendo para jugadores veteranos como el receptor Andre Johnson.

“Uno quisiera poder llegar y saber todo pero las cosas han cambiado y lo tenemos que asimilar lo más pronto posible”, dijo Andre Johnson, receptor de los Texans.

La presencia de Johnson en el arranque de lo que será un exigente campamento de pretemporada  fue celebrada por todo el plantel y los fanáticos que han llegado a presenciar los ensayos, que dirigió el entrenador Bill O’ Brien bajo un ritmo acelerado donde los jugadores han tenido que lidiar con varias interrupciones, ya que el nuevo ‘jefe’ constantemente está corrigiendo.

“Me gusta la intensidad con la que estamos entrenando. Creo que este tipo de intensidad ya era necesaria alrededor de este equipo.  En lo personal yo trabajo mucho mejor en este tipo de ambiente”, agregó Johnson.

El veterano receptor, que sufrió un leve desgarre en su muslo derecho en la práctica del lunes, aseguró que no está preocupado por haber estado ausente durante los entrenamientos previos al campamento de pretemporada.

“En mi primer día pude captar mucho de lo que mire en esta nueva ofensiva. Estoy seguro que todo será más exigente en las próximas semanas y cometeré errores mientras que voy aprendiendo pero siempre buscando mejorar”, explicó el veterano receptor.

Otro receptor que admitió estar batallando con el nuevo esquema ofensivo es DeAndre Hopkins, que juega su segunda temporada con los Texans.

“Todo es nuevo pero no hay tiempo para quejarse lo tenemos que asimilar pronto. Lo que he visto hasta ahora me gusta mucho y cuando lo podamos ejecutar creo que vamos a ser un equipo muy dinámico”, comentó Hopkins.

Se anticipa que el ritmo del campamento siga incrementando en intensidad y es que O’ Brien ha dejado claro que no piensa quitarle el pie al acelerador. Los jugadores tendrán que aguantar el paso si pretenden quedarse en el plantel final.

Además de Johnson, el corredor titular Arian Foster también sufrió una lesión en su espalda, que según el equipo no de mucha consideración.

Gustavo Rangel, se encuentra en su primera temporada como comentarista en las transmisiones de radio en Español de los Houston Texans.
