Advocare, LSSE excited for Texas Bowl partnership

Posted Feb 11, 2014

Houston Texans team president Jamey Rootes spoke at the entitlement press conference, addressing the partnership between ESPN Regional Television, Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and AdvoCare.

AdvoCare is the new title sponsor of the Texas Bowl, it was announced on Tuesday.

The postseason collegiate football game features teams from the Big 12 and the Southeastern Conference and is held at Reliant Stadium. The initial agreement stretches through the 2016 bowl game and aligns with the sponsorship of the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff, a Labor Day weekend college football game.

Houston Texans team president Jamey Rootes spoke at a press conference, addressing the partnership between ESPN Regional Television, Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and AdvoCare.

“ESPN’s involvement has allowed us to take a bowl game that was good and turn it into something great, something truly exceptional for our community,” Rootes said. “This year we improved our selection position, continuing with the Big 12 going forward but added the SEC which is the other most regionally relevant conference to participate in this bowl game.”

Mike Vaught, AdvoCare Director of Corporate Sponsorships, views the expanded partnership between LSSE and AdvoCare as an integral form of brand awareness. He expressed his enthusiasm in joining forces with the managing organization on Tuesday morning.

“We’re really excited to be a part of this bowl game,” Vaught said. “In any relationship it’s all about the people, the people make the difference and that’s what sold us on this opportunity. I think the people involved are about integrity and character, and that’s what AdvoCare is all about.”

Vaught believes Reliant Stadium to be a premier venue for the contest, conveying his affinity for the city of Houston and the people who call it home.

“Houston is one of the best sports towns in America with a passionate fan base and a group of people that understand that college football is important in this country,” he said. “We’re just really excited about being a part of this game.”

The Texas Bowl has been a tremendous success both on and off the field over its first seven years. The bowl has generated an average of $30 million per year for the Houston economy. The bowl boasts over 15,000 season ticket holders and sold over 30,000 tickets before its teams were announced last year.

“Today we’ve established an amazing relationship with a strong Texas company with an incredible national reach of great distributors that are going to work arm and arm with us take this game to the next level,” Rootes said. “We could not have done it without ESPN and going forward, we could not do what we’re going to do without AdvoCare and their partnership.”
