Posted Apr 25, 2013

Texans running back Arian Foster will portray a running back prospect from Ohio State in in the upcoming film “Draft Day” starring Kevin Costner.

Texans running back Arian Foster is going from the small screen to the silver screen.

The three-time Pro Bowler, who guest starred in an episode of “Hawaii Five-0” in February, has been cast for a role in the upcoming football film “Draft Day.” The movie stars Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner and Dennis Leary and is being directed by Ivan Reitman, the director of movies such as “Animal House” and “Ghostbusters.”

Foster will portray Ray Jennings, a fictional first-round running back prospect from Ohio State. Former NFL player and longtime actor Terry Crews will play Ray's father Earl.  Foster, who went undrafted in 2009 out of the University of Tennessee, will film his scenes in New York City during the weekend's draft.

Costner has been cast as Sonny Weaver, Jr., the fictional general manager of the Cleveland Browns. The film will depict the first day of the NFL Draft and revolve around the drama and wheeling-and-dealing that leads up to the Browns making their first-round selection.

NFL and ESPN on-air talent Jon Gruden, Mike Mayock, Deion Sanders, Rich Eisen, Mel Kiper and Chris Berman also will appear in "Draft Day," as will entertainer and entrepreneur Sean “P. Diddy” Combs.
