BWTB: Combine Visuals

Posted Feb 25, 2014

A look back at some of the top videos from the NFL scouting combine.

Not sure if you heard, but the NFL hosted the scouting combine over the past weekend. The event, which was televised by the NFL Network, gathered over 300 of college football's top prospects to evaluate their skills. Consider it the NFL's version of a job fair.

There were press conferences, team interviews and athletic drills. Players moved in mass around an obstacle course of workouts to measure their athletic ability, football acumen and future prospects as tomorrow's NFL stars.

Texans TV was on hand, surveying the scene from Lucas Oil Stadium. The amount of video and stories that came out of this event was staggering, and can all be found here and here.

Below is a look at some of the coolest moments from Indianapolis.

Speed at WR

One of the best parts of the NFL Network's coverage was their 'simulcast cam', which compared previous players in certain events (mainly the 40-yard dash) to athletes running this year. Below is a great example of that technology at work, as they combined all the talented and speedy wide receivers that ran at the combine in 2014.

Top Bench Press Performances

Who doesn't love brute strength? In this video, the NFL Network compiled the top bench press totals by the offensive lineman. For those that don't know, each prospect benches 225 pounds as many times as they can.

Combine Confessionals

In a cool behind the scenes series, the NFL Network ran several 'combine confessionals' featuring players in attendance. These videos gave insight on the player, asking them various questions to allow fans to get to know them better. Below is Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.

Combine Tour

Never been to the NFL scouting combine? Don't worry, neither have I. That's why this video, with voice of the Texans Marc Vandermeer as your guide, is a must watch for the hardcore football fan. Vandermeer, using Google glass, gives you the tour of what it is like to cover the event as a member of the media.

Jadeveon Clowney = Beast

Just in case you missed it, Jadeveon Clowney is pretty fast. The 266 pound defensive end from South Carolina ran perhaps the most impressive 40-yard dash of the entire combine. Watch it below.
