BWTB: DeAndre Hopkins honored

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was selected to Mel Kiper's 2013 NFL All Rookie squad.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins finished his first season as a pro with 52 catches for 802 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was good for a team-best 15.4 yards per reception, and had the team's longest catch of the year with his 66-yarder in the Week 13 loss to New England.

Those heroics earned him a spot on Mel Kiper Jr's 2013 NFL All-Rookie team ($). Kiper had this to say about Hopkins' first season in the League.

"The QB issues didn't help, but Hopkins still had 52 catches for 802 receiving yards, and he has a bright future."

Hopkins caught passes this year from Matt Schaub and Case Keenum, and the highlight of the campaign came in the second and final victory of 2013. That Week 2 overtime triumph over Tennessee saw him pull in seven catches for 117 yards, including the game-winning score.

Kiper had Hopkins ranked as the 18th-best rookie overall, regardless of position.

The rookie from Clemson, however, tweeted this a few hours after the announcement.

San Diego's Keenan Allen and Terrance Williams of the Cowboys were the other receivers on Kiper's All-Rookie squad. Allen was his offensive rookie of the season, and ranked third overall. Buffalo inside linebacker Kiko Alonso was the top-ranked rookie, followed by Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.
