BWTB: Draft Profiles Begin

Posted Jan 21, 2014

Get the schedule for the Texans 'On the Clock' weekly draft profiles.

The Texans are on the clock. From the moment the Houston Texans final game of the regular season ended in Nashville, the organization and its fan base turned their attention to the NFL Draft. For the third time in franchise history, the Texans will select number one overall.

Over the course of the next few months, you'll hear ad nauseam about this pick and who the Texans will and should take. The pick will be analyzed, pondered and predicted. Everyone will likely change their minds multiple times. Until the name is officially called by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, no one will know for sure.

While we don't know who the Texans will pick, we do know the candidates. That's where we come in.

If you hadn't noticed, we began the first of our Texans 'On the Clock' profiles last Thursday, a look at Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. That profile was the first of many we plan to do leading up to draft, as we'll help evaluate the players that could become Texans. Our goal is to provide comprehensive coverage of each athlete, looking at more than just the numbers they put up on the field. We will shares stories on their background, and get perspective from the media that covered them to better understand their NFL potential. Going forward, every Thursday we will feature a new prospect, so fans can learn about the players in the running for the top overall selection. There will be articles, photos, video and audio components to each profile, allowing fans to fully immerse themselves in this year's draft.

For instance, did you know Bridgewater nearly walked away from football in high school? That story among others is what you can expect from our draft profile series. We've also compiled highlight reels, so those who haven't had the chance to see some of these amazing athletes play can get a glimpse of their on field ability.

You might ask why profile more than just a handful of players? How many candidates can there really for the top overall selection? The answer is nothing is guaranteed. The Texans brass has already talked about evaluating their options; including founder and CEO Bob McNair mentioning the team might trade the pick in the right situation. The possibilities are endless, therefore we'll try to make you aware of as many prospects as we can before a decision is made in May.

Now that you know what to expect, here's a schedule so you can know who's upcoming. Again, Thursday will be our unveiling day so to speak, so stay tuned for the following profiles below. The list below is just through February, and we will continue to add to it as the process continues. Hope you enjoy it.

January 23: Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina
January 30: Anthony Barr, UCLA
February 6: Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
February 13: Blake Bortles, UCF
February 20: Jake Matthews, Texas A&M
February 27: Greg Robinson, Auburn
March 6: C.J. Moseley, Alabama
