BWTB: Texans welcome RodeoHouston

Posted Mar 6, 2014

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officially kicked off on Tuesday, March 4 at Reliant Stadium.

Good morning, y'all.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officially kicked off on Tuesday, March 4 at Reliant Stadium. The largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition in the world, HLSR showcases rodeo athletes, champion livestock and musical artists over a 20-day period.

Over the last two months, Reliant Stadium has been slowly transformed from the home of an NFL franchise to the home of barrel racers, chaps and spurs. The field grass replaced with dirt. The "Bulls on Parade" replaced with, well, bulls.

Texans players don't mind, though, as many of them join in on the Rodeo festivities. Chris Myers posted a photo with veterans at the Impact a Hero tent during the World's Championship Bar-B-Cue Contest on March 1. T.J. Yates and Ben Jones could also be found perusing through the cookoff, sampling Houston's finest smoked meats and BBQ sauces. Earl Mitchell tweeted a photo of himself enjoying a turkey leg during one of last year's concerts, and J.J. Watt and Andre Johnson were proud Grand Marshalls of the Rodeo Parade in 2011.

RodeoHouston continues tonight with all your favorite Western events including steer wrestling, bull riding and the always popular mutton bustin', closing with a live performance by country music legend Reba McEntire.
