The Texans will begin voluntary veteran minicamp this week as part the NFL's offseason workout program. Starting Monday, players will be at Reliant Stadium for physicals with individual player instruction and drills scheduled for May 6-8. Players will be without pads for the three-day minicamp.
“Well, I do look forward to having our football team in its entirety out on the field,” Rick Smith said last week on 'Texans Huddle.' “We will have a veteran minicamp before the draft, and that will really be the first opportunity for these coaches to get out and see our football team and what they look like now. Then you add those 11 draft picks or however many we end up drafting, plus the college free agents and you get all those guys into the minicamp. It’ll be fun to watch those guys."
"I’m excited for our team, I’m excited for our organization and I’m excited for the city of Houston," Smith said. "I think we have a dynamic football coach who has a vision and a plan for this team, and it’s exciting to watch him put that together. It’ll be fun to watch them out on the field.”
