Bad weather forces Texans to divert to Dallas

Posted Aug 27, 2017

Storms have impacted the Texans plans to head home following their preseason game against the Saints.

The Texans will not be traveling home after their 13-0 preseason loss in New Orleans, head coach Bill O’Brien announced after Saturday’s game.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency for Houston after a band of storms caused powerful winds and rainstorms all over the city. The team determined it was too dangerous to travel back to Houston and would instead head north to Dallas.

“It’s tough,” O’Brien said. “I think we’re going to have to head to Dallas here. We’re not going to be able to go back to Houston tonight. Just hearing that the roads are underwater there and we’re praying for everybody there. We’re in touch with our families. It’s tough. Mother Nature is undefeated so we’ll make plans to probably head to Dallas and then go from there for the rest of the week.”

The Texans have their final preseason game against the Cowboys at home. There has been no official announcement as to how the team’s travel will impact Thursday’s game in Houston.

UPDATE: The Texans have released a statement on the team's travel plans.
