Benardrick McKinney back at practice

Posted Aug 12, 2017

Benardrick McKinney returned to practice after not playing in Wednesday’s preseason game at Carolina.

Benardrick McKinney returned to practice this week after not playing in Wednesday’s preseason game at Carolina.

“It feels great, man, just being out here to be able to practice,” McKinney said Saturday. “Not practicing was stressing me out. It didn’t feel right being in the training room. But I’m back and I’m having a good time practicing with the guys.”

The Texans starting inside linebacker participated in training camp, missing practice in the days leading up to Houston’s preseason debut. McKinney started all 16 games last year and finished 11th in the NFL in tackles with a team-high 129.

Heading into his third season, McKinney is not satisfied with what he has accomplished so far.

“I have a long way to go,” McKinney said. “It’s still early, preseason. There’s still a lot that I need to correct, a lot of things that I need to get better at. But I’m just taking it day by day and not trying to rush things, but just taking the coaching and just trying to get better at my craft.”

The Texans have day off on Sunday and will resume training camp practice on Monday from The Greenbrier. Joint practices with the New England Patriots will take place Tuesday and Wednesday.
