Posted Jan 17, 2018

A trio of Texans were honored by the Pro Football Writers of America for their standout performances in 2017.

WR DeAndre Hopkins was named to PFWA’s All-NFL team, while OLB Jadeveon Clowney made the All-AFC team and QB Deshaun Watson was selected to the All-Rookie team.

Hopkins, who also earned AP First-Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors, led the league in receiving touchdowns (13), finished fourth in receiving yards (1,378), and ranked sixth in receptions (96).

In 2017, Clowney set career highs in sacks (9.5), tackles for loss (21), quarterback hits (21), tackles (59), games played/started (16), forced fumbles (2) and fumble recoveries (2). He was the only player in the AFC and one of two NFL players with at least 20 TFLs and 20 QB hits.

Despite a season cut short due to injury, Watson set an NFL record for most passing touchdowns (19) through a player’s first seven career games and his electric start helped pilot the league’s highest-scoring offense (30.7 points per game) during that time.
