Chris Myers misses second day of practice

Posted Aug 20, 2014

Chris Myers missed his second-consecutive day of practice but it is not health-related, according to Bill O'Brien.

While nearly all the Texans starters have returned to practice this week, Chris Myers missed his second-consecutive day. Head coach Bill O’Brien said the veteran center’s absence was not health-related.

“No, we’re just giving him a couple days off and making sure that he’s ready to go for future practices and games,” O’Brien said after Wednesday’s practice.

Myers, who did not play in last week’s preseason game against Atlanta, worked on the side field during the Texans training camp practices with the Denver Broncos this week. Myers’ status for Saturday’s game preseason game (kickoff at 8 p.m. CT on KTRK ABC-13, SportsRadio 610) is yet to be determinded, according to O’Brien.

“Yeah, you know, here’s a guy that’s played a lot of football in this league and we’re making sure that he’s ready to go on Sept. 7,” O’Brien said.

Myers currently holds the NFL’s longest active consecutive games played streak for an offensive lineman (137) and active consecutive starts for a center (112).

The Texans will hold their third and final joint practice with the Broncos on Thursday.
