Duane Brown aiming for his best season in 2014

Posted Jan 27, 2014

Duane Brown talks about making 2014 his best season yet.

Duane Brown’s trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii may be the last big trip he takes this offseason. The All-Pro left tackle just played in his second-consecutive Pro Bowl game but is aiming even higher in 2014.

“Last year, I took a lot of time off and traveled and stuff," Brown said in Hawaii. "I really don’t have any plans to do that this offseason. I’m trying to work. I want to make this one of my most productive offseasons ever and make next season the best season of my career.”

Brown, who missed two games last year with a toe injury, will be playing for new head coach Bill O’Brien. After the Texans’ disappointing 2-14 finish, O’Brien hopes to get the team back on track with the help of a newly assembled staff of assistants and the first-overall pick in the NFL Draft.

“I’ve had a brief conversation with him when he got into Houston,” Brown said. “I’m excited about it. He wants to come in; he wants to work hard. He wants a team-first mentality and those are all the type of things you want to hear but at the end of the day, it just comes down to us working hard and getting our way back to the top.”

Brown has blocked for four 1,000-yard rushers in four of his first five years in the NFL and has been penalized for holding just four times in his 90 starts.
