Duane Brown ranks 48th on NFL Network ‘Top 100’ list

Posted May 30, 2013

Texans left tackle Duane Brown called it a "huge honor" to rank 48th on the NFL Network's ‘Top 100 of 2013’ list, as revealed on Thursday.

Texans left tackle Duane Brown ranked 48th on ‘The Top 100 Players of 2013’ list, as voted on by players around the league for the NFL Network.

The list is unveiled in increments of 10 every Thursday evening, from 100-91 to 10-1. Brown was the first Texans player named to the list in 2013.

“It’s a huge honor to be recognized by my peers around the league,” Brown said Thursday. “I’ve worked hard to try to be the best at what I can do, so it’s an awesome feeling.”

Brown was named first-team All-Pro and started in the Pro Bowl last season, his fifth in the NFL out of Virginia Tech. The 2008 first-round draft pick was a second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl alternate in 2011.

“It’s been the best season I’ve had to date in my career, but I’m always looking to get better,” Brown said. “I have plenty that I can improve on – continue to perfect my craft, be the best I can be for my line mates, for my team, just take my game to another level and continue to perfect my technique.”

Brown was one of seven Texans offensive players to play in the Pro Bowl after last season.

“This recognition is not possible without my guys up front with me, without my running back (Arian Foster), Matt Schaub making big plays downfield,” Brown said. “They all have something to do with it.”

The Texans had four players on the ‘Top 100’ list in 2012: wide receiver Andre Johnson (15th), running back Arian Foster (25th), linebacker Brian Cushing (54th) and cornerback Johnathan Joseph (73rd). They also had four players in 2011.
