Gary Kubiak will coach from booth vs. Jaguars

Posted Nov 22, 2013

Head coach Gary Kubiak will be up in the booth during Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

For the second straight week, Gary Kubiak will coach from up high.

“I will be upstairs again," the head coach said Friday. "That was decided yesterday evening.”

Heading to locker room at halftime against the Colts on November 3, Kubiak collapsed on the field because of a transient ischemic attack (TIA). He was hospitalized for a few days, and didn't travel with the team in Week 10.

He was in the booth last Sunday against the Raiders, and after conferring with doctors, will be there again on Sunday when the Texans host Jacksonville.

“I listen to them and talk to them," Kubiak said. "I understand their decision. Just glad to get back and be out there and go to work. I’ll just keep listening to them and we’ll go week-to-week.”

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who was the interim head coach while Kubiak was out, will remain on the field and handle the red challenge flag. Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison will also likely remain on the field.
