Harris To Start?

Posted Sep 19, 2013

With left tackle Duane Brown hobbled by a toe injury, the spotlight might soon shine on backup Ryan Harris.

With All-Pro left tackle Duane Brown battling a toe injury, Ryan Harris may get his first start at the position this Sunday at Baltimore. Harris replaced Brown for a series against the Titans, when the Brown left the game following his collision with guard Wade Smith.

Harris, a swing tackle entering his seventh season in the NFL, saw  action on the right side of the offensive line in 2012. He played in all 16 games and started two for the injured Derek Newton at right tackle. Having one year of experience with the o-line has made a difference for Harris this season.

"I'm far more comfortable with the system at this point, then I was last year," Harris said on Thursday. "It gives me a lot of confidence in my preparations."

With his playing time for the Texans in addition to college experience, Harris says the transition from right to left will not be an issue for him.

"It's just a matter of preparation," Harris said. "I played left throughout college, played right throughout the league so I'm comfortable with both and played left here again this preseason. It's just a matter of knowing what you are looking for."
