J.J. Watt has two forced fumbles, sack against Arizona

Posted Nov 10, 2013

J.J. Watt has two forced fumbles both of which he recovered, three quarterback hits, and a sack in Sunday's 27-24 loss to Arizona.

J.J. Watt forced two fumbles against Arizona, both of which he recovered in Sunday’s 27-24 loss. Watt also added four tackles, three quarterback hits, and a sack on Carson Palmer.

"You talk about Andre (Johnson), but J.J.’s a great player on that side of the ball," interim head coach Wade Phillips said after the game. "He makes plays. That’s why he’s a great player. He makes plays all over the field.”

Houston was able to convert Watt’s second fumble recovery into a five-yard touchdown catch by Andre Johnson. It was not enough as the Texans dropped their seventh-straight loss for the first time in franchise history.

Getting turnovers had been a point of emphasis for winning all season long. With two forced fumbles by Watt and an interception by rookie D.J. Swearinger, the Texans won the turnover battle but lost the game 27-24 to the Cardinals. Watt described the losing streak as “extremely frustrating” after all the work put into each week’s game plan.

“That’s one thing that we’ve been emphazing all season long is getting takeaways, getting turnovers and finding a way to capitalize on them and we got a couple of them today,” Watt said. “We just need to continue to do that.”
