Jadeveon Clowney impresses in camp

Posted Jul 29, 2014

Jadeveon Clowney is impressing onlookers during Texans training camp.

Four days into Texans training camp and Jadeveon Clowney is already showing why he was worthy of the No. 1 overall draft pick.

On Tuesday, NFL Network analyst Willie McGinest was impressed with what he saw from Clowney during drills. Any lingering concerns about Jadeveon Clowney transitioning to outside linebacker have all but disappeared for the three-time Super Bowl winner.

“There’s no question in my mind," McGinest said. "When I was watching the one-on-one drills with the tight ends, Clowney was dominating. He drove one tight end about five, ten yards back. Another tight end, he almost picked off the ground.”

His offseason sports hernia surgery hasn't slowed him down either. D.J. Swearinger has played football alongside Jadeveon Clowney for three of the last four years. When he watches film after practice, the second-year safety is reminded of what he used to see in South Carolina when the two played under Steve Spurrier.

“It’s like you watch him on film and be like, ‘Whooo! Where’d that come from? He’d be someplace and he’d be a blur," Swearinger said. "That’s something he used to do all the time in South Carolina and now we’re just ready for him to do it here.”
