Jadeveon Clowney working to improve at OLB

Jadeveon Clowney learned a few things from his preseason debut.

“Stop looking back," Clowney said. "If you look back at the quarterback, the ball is going to the guy while you’re looking back. You have to keep your eyes on your guy and just run with him.”

As the best defensive end in college, Clowney’s job was to incite fear in opposing quarterbacks. Now he must learn the nuances of dropping back in coverage too. As an outside linebacker, it’s a part of the position that he’s working on daily.

“I’m working on that every day," Clowney said. "It takes time. Come in early, come out here early, working on it with my coach, individual drills and working on drops."

Clowney is confident he can improve in his pass coverage as he with each week of practice. Still coming off from his sports hernia surgery, he remains limited in reps during practice. Clowney doesn't let any of that affect his mindset when it comes to game time.

“Have fun and play,” Clowney said. “Try not to make too many mistakes. I just want to have fun and go fast.”
