But according to reports from NFL Network, Clowney will sit out of a few field drills for defensive linemen due to hip flexor tightness.
ith his early results, Clowney has surpassed the goal that he set for himself heading into the Combine. During Saturday’s press conference, Clowney told the media he was confident he could finish at 4.5 or faster.
“I know I am going to run a low 4.5 if I don’t run a 4.4,” Clowney said. “I’m hoping 4.4.”
Clowney ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay in the 2010 state championship track meet in high school. Often referred to as a “freakish athlete,” the 266-pound Clowney knows what he can do well.
“My biggest strength? My speed, of course,” Clowney said. “I’m a fast guy, quick, move well.”
While gifted athletically, Clowney has been repeatedly questioned about his work ethic after his declining stats in 2013.
"I believe I did work hard," Clowney said. "You pull out any practice tape from last year, you’ll see that. That’s what I told them. I’ll tell everybody that. I will always be working hard. No matter where I end up I am going to work hard and give a team everything I’ve got."
