Johnathan Joseph ready to play

Posted Sep 2, 2014

Heading into the Texans regular season opener on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, cornerback Johnathan Joseph is anxious to get back on the football field.

Heading into the Texans regular season opener on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, cornerback Johnathan Joseph is anxious to get back on the football field.

When asked if he was ready to play on September 7, Joseph answered immediately.

“Without a doubt,” he said.

Joseph hasn’t suited up for a game since suffering a toe injury late last season. His participation in training camp has also been limited as he worked his way back from the surgery he underwent in December. As a nine-year veteran, he understands the importance of easing his way back.

"Anytime you can get some good work, it’s always important but the overall health of the team is important for us as a team," Joseph said. "So just being smart about it and taking my time and getting myself prepared for opening day."

Joseph returned to practice this week but no official word has been given on whether or not the starting cornerback will play on Sunday.

“I’m feeling pretty good," Joseph said. "I’m just glad to be back out there practicing with the guys as you know working towards playing this week and just working on a game plan, taking it day-to-day.”
