Johnson misses practice for second consecutive day

Posted Nov 3, 2011

Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson did not practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday, putting his availability for Sunday’s game against the Browns in doubt.

Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson did not practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday, making it increasingly unlikely that he will play on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Johnson got a day off to rest on Wednesday because his surgically repaired right hamstring was sore after a Monday workout.

“We went the same route today, basically,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said on Thursday. “He is feeling better today, but we decided to hold him again today. We’ll see where we’re at tomorrow. I expect him to work out tomorrow. Whether that’s with us or with the trainers, we’ll see. It’ll be still a game-time decision at this point unless I have more for you tomorrow. (We’re) just trying to do the smart thing right now, trying to make sure he’s well.”

Kubiak said he’s “not scared” to play Johnson on Sunday if he doesn’t practice very much. The Texans want to make sure Johnson is fully healed from his Oct. 2 injury before putting him back on the field for a game.

“This is strictly about his health and how he’s feeling,” Kubiak said. “Like I said, we got to a point Monday where we pushed really, really hard. Some soreness came about, so we took him off yesterday. (The) thought was to have him back out here today, (but) we made a decision before practice no, it’s kind of cold and that type of stuff, so we’ll resume the process tomorrow and see where we’re at.”
