K Randy Bullock healthy, graduates from Texas A&M

Posted May 14, 2013

Texans kicker Randy Bullock graduated from Texas A&M on Saturday with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering.

Texans kicker Randy Bullock graduated from Texas A&M on Saturday with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering. He took his final 10 hours of classes this spring in College Station.

A fifth-round draft pick in 2012, Bullock is fully healthy after missing his rookie season with a groin tear. He said his mother, Sally, was “all smiles” when he walked across the stage to receive his diploma.

“It was very special,” Bullock said Monday at Reliant Stadium. “I went back so that I could walk the stage for my mom and my brother. It was something I had promised them, so we went and spent the afternoon doing that and came back to Houston, made sure I was back in time for workouts on Monday.”

The 2011 Lou Groza Award winner as the top kicker in college football, Bullock plans to eventually work in the oil and gas industry. His father Richard, who passed away in 2004, was a drilling engineer. His older brother, Rhett, works for Anadarko Petroleum. Bullock did an internship two summers ago with an oil company.

“Education has always been something that was very important to me and my family,” Bullock said. “After (graduation), (my mom) said, ‘You’ve done everything you promised me to do. Get out there and do your football stuff now.’”

Bullock, who attended Klein High School just north of Houston, was the first of four kickers drafted in 2012 and the only kicker drafted in Texans history. He’s excited to finally get on the field with the Texans in 2013.

“I feel great,” he said. “I’ve been cleared… (I’m) working out and doing everything normal. It feels good. I still go in the training room and work with Geoff Kaplan and his staff doing some maintenance exercises, but everything's good. I'm healthy and I’m ready to go.”

Texans wide receiver EZ Nwachukwu, an undrafted rookie, also graduated from A&M this weekend.
