has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. This week Jackson had been making progress but was still unable to practice with the team. Jackson, who had first been reported to have a chest injury, told reporters Friday he had a fractured rib.
“It’s actually a fracture to my first rib,” Jackson said. “It’s kind of behind my collarbone so it’s in a tough spot. I’m definitely feeling a lot better as opposed to the last couple weeks so I’m definitely looking forward to next week, doing more."
Jackson said the location of the injury made it difficult to receive treatment, otherwise he would have been out on the field last week against Oakland. Jackson, now in his fourth season, has started 53-of-56 games with the Texans.
In Jackson’s place, Brice McCain
will start alongside Johnathan Joseph
. Kubiak said McCain would rotate with the other corners, minus Elbert Mack
who has also been ruled out for Sunday with a hamstring injury. With depth in the secondary running thin, the Texans made roster moves this week adding Justin Rogers
, a third-year free agent previously with the Buffalo Bills.
“We’ve got basically seven healthy DBs and then the new one we signed in Justin,” Kubiak said. “So we’re trying to catch him up real quick. Everybody will play, but Brice will start.”Twitter.com/DeepSlant
