Kevin Johnson hopes to play in Week 8

The Texans defense got a much-needed boost with the return of cornerback Kevin Johnson on Monday.

For the first time since his Week 2 knee injury, Johnson practiced with his teammates.

"He looked good today out there moving around," head coach Bill O'Brien said. "It'll be great to have him back. He's such an energetic player. He means so much to our defense. I mean, he's a first-round draft pick. He's played like that when he's been out there, so I think it will be good to have him back. It's going to be good to have Duane (Brown) back. Those things are good things for this team."

The Texans defense lost both J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus to season-ending injuries on Oct. 8 against Kansas City. Johnson also missed the last four games while rehabbing from his injury. If all goes well this week in practice, Johnson hopes to be back in the lineup for the Texans Week 8 matchup at Seattle.

"No question about it," Johnson said. "I'm definitely itching to get back out there and make some plays for this defense."

Johnson started the first two games of the season and recorded four tackles, including three solo, in back-to-back performances against Jacksonville and Cincinnati.

The (3-3) Texans will travel to Seattle to face the (4-2) Seahawks on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3:05 p.m. CT on CBS and SportsRadio 610.
