"They've been good, I think," Mettenberger said. "Coach O'Brien is a great guy. He's a football genius, and someone that I'd really like to work with. Every interaction I've had with him so far has been great."
"I think he is improving," LSU head coach Les Miles said. "I think they will see that his leg is in the high 90 percentile. He’s back."
Mettenberger and 20 of his former teammates worked out, and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron ran the quarterback and receiver drills. One of Mettenberger's favorite targets, Odell Beckham, was enthusiastic about how well the quarterback looked.
“It’s pretty crazy for him to only be 13 weeks out," Beckham said. "He’s almost fully recovered. He’s throwing the ball and dropping back. It’s amazing on his part, and it says a lot about his character and hard work."Mettenberger said he's feeling about "85 to 90 percent" healthy, but expects to be "100 percent" by the time rookie camps begin in the middle of May.
