Ndamukong Suh fined $30k for kicking Matt Schaub

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has been fined $30k for kicking Texans quarterback Matt Schaub.

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has been fined $30k for kicking Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin last Thursday at Detroit.

Suh was not suspended for the incident but was fined by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

“I didn’t even know it happened,” Schaub said a few minutes after Suh's fine was announced. “Don’t really care. We’re on to Tennessee.”

Schaub said Monday that he wouldn’t want Suh as a teammate because the things Suh stands for are not “Houston Texan-worthy.” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that he didn’t like the play but was moving on.

Suh said he will not apologize to Schaub and that his groin kick was accidental, and Lions coach Jim Schwartz said he wasn’t surprised that Suh was not suspended. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday that it was difficult to judge Suh’s intent on the play.

This is the third time a defensive player has been fined for hitting Schaub this season. Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays was fined $50,000 and suspended one game for a helmet-to-helmet collision in Week 3. Broncos linebacker Von Miller was fined $15,750 for an illegal hit on Schaub in the same game.
