O-line hopes to keep intensity high for Jags

The offensive line hopes to maintain intensity level for Thursday's game at Jacksonville.

Left tackle Duane Brown hopes to keep up the intensity level for Thursday’s game at Jacksonville. Houston’s offensive line blocked for a season-tying 31 points and a franchise-record four rushing touchdowns against the New England Patriots. The Texans now have a short week before facing the Jaguars for the second time in less than two weeks.  

“It’s very important,” Brown said. “Looking at the outing we had against Jacksonville last time, it was probably our worst performance of the year but it’s very important for us to go out and get that bad taste out of our mouth. We know we are going to go against a physical group with that defense so we have to have a great amount of intensity and a great physicality throughout four quarters.”

In Sunday's 34-31 loss to New England, Houston's offensive line paved the way for a career performance by Ben Tate who rushed for 102 yards and three touchdowns. Case Keenum also added a score on a 5-yard keeper in the third quarter.

Houston’s strategy was to run the ball early and often to keep Tom Brady and New England off the field as much as possible, according to Brown.

“It gave us an ability to have a balanced attack so when we had to drop back we were better prepared to protect and having to protect a little longer than normal,” Brown said. “I think it was just an intensity thing. We just came out with a lot of intensity, a lot of energy and we just fed off of that throughout the game.”
