Owen Daniels injures fibula, will have MRI

Posted Oct 7, 2013

Tight end Owen Daniels injured a fibula during the Texans' 34-3 loss at San Francisco on Sunday night.

Tight end Owen Daniels has a leg injury, and will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Head coach Gary Kubiak said Daniels was hurt late in the Sunday night loss at San Francisco, and didn't initially know whether or not the injury would cause his Pro Bowl tight end to miss any playing time.

"Owen Daniels has the fibula that we're getting checked out this afternoon," Kubiak said. "They're doing an MRI on it today. He got hit on one of the last balls he caught."

Kubiak also said Daniels was "real sore today" and that the team's medical training staff was "checking him out."

Sunday night against the 49ers, Daniels had six catches for 60 yards.

On the season, the eighth-year veteran has 24 catches for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Garrett Graham also has a trio of scoring catches, and would likely be the primary tight end end if Daniels' injury causes him to miss any games. Rookie Ryan Griffin would also likely see more playing time if Daniels is absent.
