Quick turnaround a necessity for Texans

Posted Sep 10, 2017

The Texans must turn around quickly and be ready for a Thursday-nighter at Cincinnati.

Sunday was tough for the Texans. But getting to play again on Thursday, many of them said, is a good thing.

They dropped their season opener at home to the Jaguars, and now travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday for a Thursday night matchup. Getting back to work in a hurry, is a positive.

"I'm very excited that it's a short week, so we can get out there on Thursday and try and prove ourselves," defensive end J.J. Watt said.

Houston dropped a 29-7 contest to Jacksonville at NRG Stadium, turning the ball over four times and allowing 10 sacks in the loss. Not having a few days to stew over the poor result, according to cornerback Johnathan Joseph, is a plus.

"That's the best part about this situation," Joseph said. "Having a short week, able to get it behind you, watch it obviously and correct things, but just being able to go out there on Thursday and play another ballgame, you don't have to wait until Sunday."

Offensive lineman Chris Clark agreed.

"When something like this happens, it's a good thing to get back out there, get on the practice field, watch this film and learn from our mistakes," Clark said. "Because we made a lot of mistakes. Getting back to it, is what's good for us right now."

The Texans will face a Bengals team that was blanked 20-0 at home in Cincinnati by the Ravens.
