Randy Bullock will continue as kicker

Posted Nov 6, 2013

Interim head coach Wade Phillips said Randy Bullock will continue on as the team's kicker.

Randy Bullock will remain on as the Texans' kicker.

Acting head coach Wade Phillips said the former Texas A&M Aggie will handle the kicking duties, despite missing three of his four attempts in Sunday night's loss to Indianapolis.

"We're going to continue to go with Randy," Phillips said on Wednesday. "He certainly knows and we told him, and everybody else knows. He’s got to get it done."

There were various media reports on Tuesday that said the Texans brought a trio of kickers in for a tryout. Former Texans Shayne Graham and Neil Rackers, along with Justin Medlock were the reported players to have auditioned.

Bullock has connected on 13 of his 21 attempts this season, with his longest coming from 48 yards. He has been successful on all 13 extra point attempts. 16 of his 33 kickoffs have been touchbacks.

"That’s the bottom line is production," Phillips said. "He started out poorly and started kicking really well. I think he got away from his technique a little bit last game and we feel like we can get him back to that.”

In 2011, he was the Lou Groza Award winner at Texas A&M. He's also the Aggies' all-time scoring leader. The Texans selected him in the 5th round (161st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.
