Ryan Griffin "ready to go" vs. Jacksonville

Posted Nov 20, 2013

Griffin returned to practice on Wednesday and is expected to play in Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.

Ryan Griffin watched Sunday's game against Oakland from the Texans locker room but is now back on the field with his teammates.

"Sitting there, it was rough watching it at that time knowing that I couldn’t do anything about it, and watching them lose,” Griffin said. "That’s why I’m ready to be back this week and ready to go, get some two tight end sets out there.”

Griffin returned to practice on Wednesday and is expected to play in Sunday’s game against Jacksonville. The rookie tight end was inactive because of a concussion for Houston’s 28-23 loss to Oakland. With Griffin out and Owen Daniels on injured reserve with designation to return next month, the Texans were limited in their ability to run two tight end sets.

“We still try to pound the ball and run our keeper stuff,” Griffin said. “But it is different and we’ve got to get back to it, getting the ball on the ground and spreading out the two tight end stuff. We’ll be ready to go.”

Griffin scored his first career touchdown on a two-yard pass at Arizona. He left in the second half after suffering a concussion during a kickoff.
