Safety Danieal Manning has "significant knee injury"

Posted Oct 14, 2013

Safety Danieal Manning has a "significant knee injury" and will be replaced in the starting lineup by Shiloh Keo.

Danieal Manning has a "significant knee injury", Gary Kubiak said on Monday. The Texans will be without the veteran strong safety for an undetermined length of time, according to the head coach.

"It's something that's going to take some time," Kubiak said. "We're trying to evaluate exactly how much time before we make decisions on moving forward."

Manning left Sunday's loss in the third quarter. He logged four tackles on defense, and also returned a kickoff 18 yards. Kubiak said Shiloh Keo, who started at San Diego and at home against Tennessee at free safety, would fill in for Manning as the starter.

"Obviously Shiloh moves up right away," Kubiak said. "They're interchangeable from that standpoint. Brandon Harris can also go back there and play some safety for us. We'll see where this evaluation goes."

Harris is a reserve cornerback, and has a pair of tackles in 2013. A second round draft pick out of Miami (FL) in 2011, he was active for seven games that season. During 2012, he was active for eight games and finished 14 total tackles.
