Reed signed with Houston in late March, was injured and had surgery on his hip a few weeks later, and worked out on side fields from May through August under the direction of the team's medical training staff while his teammates practiced. In between all that, he shuttled back and forth to Vail, Colorado and Atlanta, Georgia to work with specialists on his rehab.
"He’ll be back tomorrow," head coach Gary Kubiak said Friday. "We’re hoping to do some field drills Monday and Tuesday with our extra days with him, with Kap (Head Athletic Trainer Geoff Kaplan)."
"We’ll probably make a quick decision early in the week, Monday or Tuesday, on his availability for San Diego," Kubiak said. "We’re sitting here hoping and we’ll see how that goes.”
Reed never put a timeline or target date on a return. The Texans are off until a Monday practice, and they'll follow that up with another practice on Tuesday before taking Wednesday off. They'll practice again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before leaving for San Diego on Sunday.
