    The 2015 Houston Texans Draft Party presented by Coors Light isThursday, April 30 at NRG Stadium.  The Draft Party begins at 5 p.m. CDT and the 2015 NFL Draft begins at 7 p.m. CDT.

    NFL Network’s draft coverage will be shown on the HD televisions throughout the 100 Level Concourse and Texans Radio on SportsRadio 610 will broadcast live, with commentary and analysis from “The Voice of the Texans,” Marc Vandermeer, and a number of special guests. When the Texans make their first-round pick, fans at the Draft Party will hear from the player first as part of Texans Radio’s live broadcast.

    Texans Ambassadors will be on hand to sign autographs throughout the evening. Texans fans can also get their first glimpse of the 2015 Houston Texans Cheerleaders when the squad makes its debut performance at the event. 

    Young fans can play in the TORO’s Kids Club Zone presented by Kroger, which will feature interactive games, a balloon artist and appearances by TORO and Deep Steel Thunder. Fans can also take photos in Memory Alley located on the concourse.

Second annual Texans Care Volunteer Day to take place

The second annual Texans Care Volunteer Day will take place Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. – noon CT at six locations across the city of Houston.



The second annual Texans Care Volunteer Day will take place Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. – noon CT at six locations across the city of Houston. The special event provides fans with the opportunity to make a direct impact in the community alongside Texans players, Cheerleaders, Ambassadors, staff members and TORO.

Texans President Jamey Rootes and representatives from United Way and the Houston Food Bank will be on hand  to kick of the day’s events with a news conference at the Food Bank, after which they will join nearly 300 volunteers in packing and sorting donations.

The Houston Food Bank, Rodriguez Elementary School, and the Boys & Girls Club Driver Park are just a few of the charitable organizations that will be flooded with volunteers who will spend four hours giving back to the community.

Among last year’s Texans volunteers were Pro Bowl left tackle Duane Brown , wide receiver Lestar Jean , nose tackle Earl Mitchell , tackle Derek Newton  and more. Rootes was elated by the outpouring of support from all across Houston.

“We had heard from our fans over and over, ‘As you go out in the community, is there a way we can volunteer with you?’” Rootes said. “This is our first step in that. We think this can make a big impact for Houston.”

As an organization, the Texans put a strong emphasis on giving back to the community and are excited to once again invite Texans fans to volunteer alongside the team. The organizations listed below work to improve the standard of living for the young people of Houston, which aligns with the Texans mission to be Champions for Youth.


Houston Food Bank (350 volunteers)
535 Portwall Street, Houston, TX 77029
Volunteers will work in the state-of-the- art Carousel Room, a room with a carrier system that moves the food through the volunteer area. Volunteers will help with the Pantry Select Project through sorting and inspecting product recovered from retail stores that can still be salvaged. Volunteers will also help to sort and prepare the items for distribution and provide thousands of nutritious meals to the community in just one shift.

Houston Arboretum (100 volunteers)
4501 Woodway Drive, Houston, TX 77024
This labor-intensive opportunity will partner volunteers with Houston Arboretum staff on a conservation project on the Arboretum grounds. Volunteers will haul debris (dead branches and short logs) from the forest to designated areas, spread granite over the walking trails, spread mulch, and remove invasive plant species. The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a 155-acre non-profit, nature sanctuary with a total of 5 miles of walking trails through forest, meadow and wetland habitats. 

Alief Family YMCA (40 volunteers)
7850 Howell Sugarland Road, Houston, TX 77083
Volunteers will help to make repairs and updates to the Alief Family YMCA facility. There are also a number of projects that need to be completed to the exterior of the building and surrounding grounds. From building benches for the summer camp area to trimming trees to arranging a new storage unit, there is something for everyone! This opportunity will help to maintain a safe environment for the youth of Alief as they head into the summer break.


Boys & Girls Clubs, Driver Park (80 volunteers)
10918 1/2 Bentley Street, Houston, TX 77093
Volunteers at the Boys & Girls Club, Driver Park will help with the upkeep of this facility that serves North Houston. The projects for this site include repainting the gym, painting murals in the facility, landscaping the flower beds, and building storage units. Completing these projects will provide the Boys & Girls Club with service that cannot otherwise be found within the organization and will encourage participation from the area youth.


Star of Hope (100 volunteers)
6801 Ardmore, Houston, TX 77054
Volunteers for Star of Hope will help at the Transitional Living Center, a home for single women and mothers while they gain the skills on their path to independence. The hallways of this center will be repainted to provide a greater living environment. Also, volunteers will trim the shrubs around the fence surrounding the center. These beautification projects allow Star of Hope to be a good neighbor in our community and to model those values for their clients.

Rodriguez Elementary (designated site for Battle Red Ladies and Toro’s Bravos Fan Clubs) (100 volunteers)
5858 Chimney Rock Road, Houston, TX 77081
Volunteers at Rodriguez Elementary will be providing services to a school in big need of help as they head into summer school. Our dedicated fan club members will have the opportunity to resurface the walking track, plant trees around the school, and install playground equipment. This will help to create a space that encourages activity and creativity for the special students of Rodriguez Elementary School.
