Texans left tackle
The 2012 Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro should be healthy in plenty of time for the start of training camp on July 26.
“Duane has a bone spur that’s been bothering him somewhere in his ankle area, and (we) made a decision yesterday to go ahead and shave it,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said. “It’s a minor procedure. He’s fine. We just want to make sure it’s something that’s not a problem when we go to camp, so we decided to do it.”
Brown was not at the Texans’ practice at the Methodist Training Center on Wednesday morning.
“I expect him to be fine in a couple weeks,” Kubiak said. “It’s just a decision we made yesterday. It’s bothered him the last couple days, and he doesn’t need to go through a whole year worrying about that, so that’s why we did it.”
Brown has started 76 games at left tackle in five seasons with the Texans, including 42 consecutive games dating back to 2010. A 2008 first-round draft pick out of Virginia Tech, he has developed into one of the NFL’s best at his position. He was second-team All-Pro in 2011 after allowing just 2.5 sacks all season. He has been penalized for holding just twice in his career.
