Posted Oct 15, 2012

Telemundo will air a weekly Texans show called “Houston Texnas Primero y Diez,” beginning Friday, Oct. 19.

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans and Telemundo Houston (KTMD Ch. 47) announced today that the station will begin airing a weekly Texans-focused show titled “Houston Texans Primero y Diez” (First and Ten) on Friday evenings beginning this week. Telemundo-KTMD 47 is the exclusive Spanish-language television home of the Houston Texans.

The 15-minute show will air from 10:20 – 10:35 p.m. each Friday throughout the remainder of the Texans season, including the playoffs if the team qualifies for the postseason. “Houston Texans Primero y Diez” will follow the Friday evening newscast and will lead directly into Telemundo’s popular national sports show, “Titulares Y Más.”

“We are excited to partner with Telemundo to bring exclusive team content to our large and loyal base of Spanish-speaking Texans fans in Houston,” said Houston Texans President Jamey Rootes. “Houston is an incredibly diverse community and this new partnership, especially our flagship program ‘Houston Texans Primero y Diez,’ will allow us to better serve our existing Hispanic fan base and create new fans for the future.”

Enrique Vásquez, the play-by-play voice of the Houston Texans’ Spanish radio broadcasts, and popular local radio host Daniela Rodriguez will host the show. Regular features will include Texans player profiles, previews of each week’s game, and highlights from Texans events in the community.

“Telemundo Houston looks forward partnering with the Houston Texans to provide the fourth-largest US Hispanic community with weekly Texans programming, during what we hope will be a Super Bowl season for Houston,” says Tony Canales, President and General Manager for KTMD-47.  Canales added, “This exclusive partnership with the Texans exemplifies Telemundo Houston’s increased commitment to local community involvement and our desire to offer the most relevant on-air content to local viewers.”

“Houston Texans Primero y Diez” will be the first Spanish-language team show in Texans history.
