Texans dominate in 33-17 win over Cleveland

The Texans dominated in their Week 6 win over the Cleveland Browns, scoring over 33 points for the fourth week in a row.

The Texans dominated on Sunday, defeateing the Cleveland Browns 33-17 in Week 6 action. Houston has now scored 33 or more points for the fourth week in a row.

Houston’s defense forced three turnovers, recorded four sacks and had a safety in the team’s first game without J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus.

In his fifth career start, Deshaun Watson completed 17-of-29 passes for 225 yards, tossing three touchdowns. Watson also added 23 yards rushing on six carries. DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V both caught touchdown passes for the third consecutive game, while Braxton Miller scored his first touchdown of the season. The Texans rushed for 100 yards between D’Onta Foreman, who had 12 rushes for 59 yards, and Lamar Miller, who rushed for 41 yards on 15 carries.

The Texans and Brown each connected on a field goal in the first quarter. From that point, Houston pulled away with four touchdowns. Fuller caught a 39-yard touchdown for his first reception of the day to cap off a five-play, 87-yard Texans scoring drive. Houston took a 10-3 lead.

In the second quarter, the Texans defensed picked off Browns quarterback Kevin Hogan three times. In back-to-back drives in the second quarter, Kevin Hogan’s passes were picked off by Johnathan Joseph and then by Dylan Cole. Joseph returned his first interception 82 yards for a touchdown to give Houston a 16-3 lead with 11:08 remaining.

Watson threw his second touchdown of the day to Braxton Miller. The second-year wide receiver caught his first score on a one-yard pass. Ryan Griffin caught the ensuing two-point conversion. The Texans headed into halftime with a 24-3 lead.

The Texans added nine more points in the third quarter. Hogan was called for intentional grounding in the endzone to give Houston its first safety of the season. Hopkins caught a 3-yard touchdown from Watson. The Texans pulled away with a 33-3 lead.

With 13:40 left in the game, Watson’s pass, intended for Fuller, was picked off by Browns cornerback Jason McCourty and returned 56 yards for a touchdown.

Hogan threw his first touchdown pass with 1:03 left in the game.

With the win, the Texans improve to 3-3 and will travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks on Oct. 29 following their Week 7 bye.
