The Houston Texans and affiliated McNair Group have been named to the Houston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” in Houston. The Texans ranked seventh in the category of businesses with 101 to 500 employees. The publication has honored the best workplaces in the Houston area for 12 years.
According to the Houston Business Journal, Houston-area companies are invited to participate in the competition, which consists of a confidential employee survey conducted by Quantum Workplace. Each company was rated based on its employees’ responses in six main categories: goals and leadership, communication and support, advancement opportunity and skill development, recognition and compensation, tolerance and flexibility, and embracing innovation and ideas.
The Texans and The McNair Group strive to hire employees and players that are a good fit in representing the organization, the Houston community and the National Football League by focusing their recruiting efforts on individuals with high character, a strong work ethic and a fierce competitive spirit.
“Talent is a key concern for our organization, both on and off the field,” Houston Texans president Jamey Rootes said. “We must attract and retain talented, passionate and hard working professionals in order to realize our full potential as a franchise. We have created a comprehensive process to help us understand the needs of our staff and meet or exceed their expectations.”
The Texans, whose stated mission is “to create and maintain the most respected and most valuable professional sports franchise in the world,” have three primary objectives: win championships, create memorable experiences for their fans and partners and do great things in the Houston community.
The defending AFC South Champions, ranked by Forbes as the fifth most valuable professional sports franchise in the NFL, currently hold the best record in the AFC at 8-1 and have sold out all 108 home games in team history, including preseason, regular season and postseason contests. Last season, the Houston Texans Foundation raised nearly $1 million through community events and has raised more than $11 million for the Gulf Coast Region since the team kicked off in 2002.
“It is quite an honor to be designated as one of Houston’s best places to work,” Rootes said. “This recognition provides us with added inspiration to do even more to serve our employees and their families in the future.”
