Texans select OT Julién Davenport in fourth round

Posted Apr 29, 2017

The Texans drafted Bucknell offensive tackle Julién Davenport with the 130th overall pick, the first of their two fourth round selections.

The Texans drafted Bucknell offensive tackle Julién Davenport with the 130th overall pick, the first of their two fourth round selections.

“Longest arms of any tackle in the draft,” Texans analyst John Harris said. “When he utilizes that arm length properly, he can lock up pass rushers quickly. He’s still got some room to grow and work, but he moves well for a 6-7, 318-pound young tackle.”

Davenport (6-7, 318) started all 44 games at left tackle during his career at Bucknell. As a freshman, Davenport earned the starting position at left tackle during preseason camp. The two-time captain for the Bison was the only member of the Bison senior class to start all 44 games from 2013-16.

Last season, Davenport was part of Bucknell offensive line that blocked for a 1,000-yard rusher in Joey DeFloria (1,070 yards, 10 touchdowns) as well as the No. 2 back Chad Freshnock who recorded 604 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns. Davenport also earned first-team All-American honors from four outlets, Associate Press, AFCA, STATS, Walter Camp for his 2016 campaign.
