Texans wear letterman jackets on trip to New England

Posted Dec 9, 2012

The Texans traveled to New England on Sunday in style. Players wore custom-made Texans letterman jackets as they flew from Houston to the northeast.

The Texans traveled to New England on Sunday in style – high school style.

Just about every single player wore a custom-made Texans letterman jacket as the team flew from Houston to New England in the morning. Most players paired the jackets with white button-down shirts, ties and khaki pants.

Nose tackle Shaun Cody came up with the idea for the jackets. He and outside linebacker Connor Barwin collaborated with Texans director of equipment services Jay Brunetti to get the jackets made for the entire team. The jackets arrived at Reliant Stadium on Friday, and players said they planned to wear them as a group on their trip to play the Patriots on Monday Night Football.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak told the media on Saturday that he would let the players wear the jackets, joking that "they'll do anything to get out of a suit” – their normal road trip attire.

The letterman jackets are Deep Steel Blue with a large Texans logo over the left breast. The jackets feature each player’s number and position group in white letters with red outline on the right sleeve, just above the elbow. Texans left tackle Duane Brown tweeted after arriving in New England on Sunday that the players will wear the jackets on Monday when they take buses from their hotel to Gillette Stadium for the game against the Patriots.
