Texans will fly 17,000+ miles in 2018

Posted Jan 11, 2018

The Texans will do some traveling in the 2018 regular season.

The Texans will travel quite a bit in 2018, but not as much as they did last autumn.

With no trips west of Denver, but four to the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, Houston will log 17,378 roundtrip miles during the 2018 regular season.

AIR MILES TRAVELED IN 2018
OPPONENT ROUND TRIP MILES
NEW ENGLAND            3,120
NEW YORK JETS            2,800
PHILADELPHIA            2,640
WASHINGTON            2,460
DENVER            1,722
INDIANAPOLIS            1,692
JACKSONVILLE            1,630
TENNESSEE            1,314
TOTAL          17,378

The schedule will be released in mid-April, but the Texans know who they'll play next fall. Their longest flight will be when they travel to New England for a matchup with the Patriots.

Their shortest will be to Nashville for a showdown with their AFC South foes in the Titans.

In all, only three other seasons will top the 2018 mileage chart, with 2017 being the most. Trips to New England, Seattle, Los Angeles and Baltimore accounted for big chunks of mileage in the air for Houston. 2005 and 2010 also saw the Texans travel 18,398 and 17,518 miles, respectively.

In total, the Texans have flown 252,858 miles during the regular season since they started play in 2002.
