Vince Wilfork: Mr. December

For Vince Wilfork, this week is a new season.

Don't ask him about past games or previous plays. Sure, Wilfork made a big fourth-and-one stop to end the Colts final offensive series and delivered two quarterback hits to Andrew Luck in the 22-17 win in Indianapolis. The 13-year veteran isn't interested in reminiscing about the past.

"Man, we've moved on from that," Wilfork said. "The game's too important to go backwards. We can always go backwards but not going to do that this week. This is a meaningful game for us right now."

The Texans, tied with Tennessee at 7-6, hold the lead in the AFC South with 4-0 record in the division. With a 2-11 Jacksonville team up next, Wilfork and the Texans aren't overlooking any of their final three opponents.

"I appreciate the fact that he came up big for us last week," head coach Bill O'Brien said. "A lot of times, when I've been around Vince, he plays his best football in December and that's what we need from him."

Wilfork plans to do just that. The five-time Pro Bowler has played all but two postseasons (2008, 2013) since he entered the league in 2004. Wilfork has played in 22 postseason games and recorded 83 tackles, 54 solo, six quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one pass defensed, and one fumble recovery.

"Most important thing now is to win," Wilfork said. "In December, you got to play your best football. That's the way it is in this league. If you can't win in December, you'll have a hard time winning in January, if you get to play in January."

Through 12 starts this season, Wilfork has 19 tackles, three quarterback hits, one tackle for loss, and one pass defensed.

The (7-6) Texans will host the (2-11) Jaguars in Week 15. Sunday's kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT on CBS and SportsRadio 610.
